Triple award winner Jokic suffers a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" knee injury when the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 at the Heat.
The Serbian center injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an inadvertent contact with team-mate Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of the MVP, who promptly went down to the floor clutching his leg.
The star, that is leading the league season in boards and assists, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the game prior to incurring the injury.
Jokic is scheduled for an MRI scan on Tuesday to assess the severity of the injury.
"Immediately, he understood there was a problem," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player who is injured, it's difficult, especially a player as talented as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"The team will adjust as a team. Clearly, right now, I am more worried just about Jokic as a person and the letdown of experiencing an event of that nature."
