The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song
This latest animated series, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at multiple agonizing backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.
Overall, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.
This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.
But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.
Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of fantasy hijinks.
The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.
Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have a few surprises and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as one of them.
This animated adventure will be available to watch on Prime Video from Nov. 19. If you can't wait before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
