Over in the AFC, the playoff picture remains completely chaotic. The four teams leading their divisions through ten weeks: Indianapolis, New England, Denver (each with 8-2 records) and the Steelers (5-4). Take another look. Kansas City isn't there. No Bills inclusion. Not the Ravens or Bengals. The traditional powers, backed by premier quarterback talent, possess either glaring roster weaknesses or are dealing with health issues.

Competitive Balance System

In some ways, it’s the league’s ideal. But watching this season's top AFC teams within the conference continues to seem unusual. Components of every squad meet championship standards, though not comprehensively. Colts Situation

First, examining Indianapolis, the signal-caller hasn't yet achieved pumpkin status. Yet the past two games have raised concerns. He’s back to turning over the ball and faltering under duress. Currently they're youthful, quick and confident. Nevertheless, one cannot overlook the weakness of New England's opponents. They've encountered the least challenging lineup across the NFL, and flaws have still emerged. Their quarterback has taken sacks on 35 occasions – among the highest totals – with several hits he absorbed on Sunday were vicious. As the season progresses, that punishment compounds.

Denver Analysis

The Broncos are eight wins similarly, and the perception remains like they're nervously waiting. Bo Nix has performed unevenly, with the attack struggling, while the defensive unit provides most of the responsibility. Absent adequate signal-calling, Denver cannot intimidate playoff opponents. The Chargers are also hovering in the AFC West at 7-2, but the injuries affecting their protection unit will present challenges to achieve championship contention.

Steelers Examination

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh exists, inexplicably frontrunning their division despite being thumped 25-10 by the Chargers in the evening game. This development isn't entirely shocking that the Ravens have narrowed to within one game of Pittsburgh, though the speed of this shift is an indictment of Pittsburgh’s inconsistencies. The fact Baltimore began with a 1-5 record and currently seem capable of division victory speaks volumes regarding the complete conference.

Established Contenders

The Ravens represent a segment within a trio of powerhouses – together with Bills and Chiefs – fueled by former MVP signal-callers, who would still strike the most fear in opposing teams should they reach postseason. They're the teams everyone hopes to avoid, yet Kansas City and Buffalo continue to self-destruct.

Buffalo Bills

Last week, the Bills were riding high after beating the Chiefs. On Sunday they suffered among the season's worst defeats this year. They didn’t just lose against Miami; they were embarrassed, losing 30-13 as visitors. The Dolphins secured their first triumph over the Bills in several seasons.
