Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
