Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Shooting as Authorities Persist in Hunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the weekend's violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant persisted following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow on social media, stating: “There are no words. Thinking of her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sibling Samira said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were injured in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and head another way, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our community”.

The gunman discharged a weapon inside a room in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a authority informed the Associated Press.

Officers that entered the inn recovered a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims
